Dërty Bërd is a Naarm-based, soulful/funky-reggae syndicate composed of mellifluous vocalists, earthy-toned brass players and a rhythm section that thrives on a dance-floor atmosphere. Girl night in is an all female jazz collective that host a smorgasbord of performers. The group’s aim is to foster a supportive, inclusive space where female-identifying jazz musicians feel confident, heard, and creatively free. They’ve blended Nu Jazz and Folk creating a collaborative ensemble featuring vocals, guitar, bass, keys, drums, saxophone, strings and more. 9pm - Harper Dawson

Harper Dawson is a jazz saxophonist, improviser and composer from Melbourne with an affinity for lyrical playing and a love for collaborative music making. Her original compositions are grounded in melody, storytelling, and the search for beauty through simplicity. She draws inspiration from contemporary improvising composers such as Kenny Wheeler, Kika Sprangers and Sam Anning; blending Australian jazz with folk inspired melodies and European jazz influences. Harper studied a Bachelor of Music at Monash University, and was a finalist for the Monash University Jazz Prize in 2022 for her original composition Beguiling Beauty. She has performed with Sumire Kuribyashi (JAP), Iro Haarla (FIN), Vince Jones (AUS) and Helen Svoboda (AUS). In 2021 Harper was part of a Monash Sessions recording with Ingrid Jensen (USA). In 2026 Harper will complete an Honours in Jazz and Improvisation at the University of Melbourne.

G_Tano is a high-energy funk collective that blends old-school rhythms, acid jazz atmospheres, Mediterranean fusion, and psychedelic soul. Founded by Stefano “Tano” Ioele, G_Tano in 2022, the band thrives on cultural diversity, featuring core members from South Korea, Panama, Indonesia, Italy, and Australia, while an extended family of rotating musicians from Ecuador, Chile, Brazil, and Fiji frequently join their explosive live sets.

Careful Yelling - is a Melbourne (Naarm) quartet blending progressive grunge, psych-rock, and jazz-fusion. Defined by atmospheric builds and horn-powered explosions, they’ve become a staple of the Northside circuit, moving seamlessly from hypnotic dub grooves to heavy, shoegaze-laden noise.

Sansonus - Born from the gritty, unglamorous dive bars of Melbourne, Sansonus is a band that prides itself on the "slow slog." Their sound is a high-energy blend of disco-punk and "cock-eyed" indie rock, characterized by skittish vocals, synth interludes and anxious, frenetic guitar riffs. Described as the sonic equivalent of a restless night out, their music moves between danceable hi-hat-heavy grooves and surrealist odes to burning out.

Keets is a singer songwriter, pushing the boundaries with her voice using scatting, vocal percussion, and loops. Backed by lush keys, keets draws on jazz and indie influences to create something new and share her love for music.

Circuit Breaker - CIRCUIT BREAKER is a high octane, Japanese style fusion band, inspired by artists who shaped many classic game soundtracks - artists like Casiopea and T-Square, composers like Koji Kondo and Yoko Shimomura. Their original music fuses serious chops with serious fun, a love letter to the soundtracks of the games that raised them.

Guitar Kingdom brings the concert experience to a grungy bar setting, heralding the intimate and popular roots of the guitar's nomadic history. With four shows a year, Guitar Kingdom has drawn a loyal following of live music lovers who relish cream-of-the-crop guitarists of Melbourne in a low-key setting.

Originally housed at the now-defunct yet presently-beloved Northcote venue Open Studio Bar, Guitar Kingdom has been curated by Yours Truly since 2019. Many happy returns in 2026 as it continues at Bar 303.

On offer will be a masterclass of global grooves spanning 1960s New Orleans to 1970s Jakarta: a funky Gado Gado and Gumbo combination! The night starts with the slapstick soul, punch drunk funk, and unsteady rocksteady of The Offtopics, and continues with the danceable dangdut, graceful gamelan, and pulsating percussion of The Jawa Pitu Band’s unique fusion of Javanese, Hindustani, Malay, Arabic and Western music. The Putbacks are Melbourne’s premier grit-and-soul ensemble. Established in 2007, the group has become the "stone-cold pro" backbone of the Australian soul scene, most notably through their multi-award-winning collaboration with Indigenous powerhouse Emma Donovan.

Comprising Mick Meagher (bass), Rory McDougall (drums), Tom Martin (guitar), and Simon Mavin (keys), the band specializes in raw, fluid, and razor-sharp funk that pays homage to the Stax and Atlantic traditions while maintaining a distinctly Naarm/Melbourne identity.

The Putbacks take their cues from the great house bands of the 60s and 70s soul studios - think of The MGs, The Meters and The Wrecking Crew, as well as film composers from David Axelrod to Adrian Younge and contemporary instrumental groups BADBADNOTGOOD and Khruangbin.

Kyle Chenoweth is a Melbourne-based Jazz Trombonist and bandleader known for his “musical maturity beyond his years containing a pleasing mix of poise, pacing, flow, flair and fire” – Paul Williamson. A regular presence on Melbourne’s jazz scene, he leads a fresh quintet that blends classic repertoire with their contemporary edge.

Following the release of their debut album in 2025, the band is now bringing some new music as well as a mix of their favourite standards from the American Songbook and beyond, inspired by the likes of Walter Smith III and Immanuel Wilkins.
